About Sugar Creek Township

Sugar Creek Township is a political subdivision of the State of Indiana. Sugar Creek Township is 36 square miles, bounded on the west by Hancock County Road 800 W (Carroll Road in Indianapolis), on the South by County Road 600 S (Thompson Road) on the east by County Road 200 W the northern boundary is just North of US 40.

The population of Sugar Creek Township in the 2021 census is at estimated 16766. The annual population growth for Sugar Creek Township is 1.3 percent.

Sugar Creek Township has one of the highest average per capita incomes in the State of Indiana.

The township provides the following services:

The township is administered by a Township Trustee which is an elected position elected every four years. The Trustee position is typically a “full time” position. The Trustee is assisted by a Deputy Trustee who handles a multitude of daily items including Public Assistance for residents of the township.

The Township office hours are Monday thru Thursday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, unless inclement weather requires alteration of schedule. If inclement weather is present, please call ahead to the Trustees office before visiting. The Township Trustees office is located at 3545 South 600 W at fire station 45 at the north entrance.

The Township Board consists of three members also elected every four years. The township board reviews the actions of the trustee, works with the trustee to set various policies for the township and approves the township budget.

The township board meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 6 PM in the meeting room at Fire Station 45, located at 3545 S 600 W.
